Data Center Containment Solutions

Data center containment is the practice of splitting the aisles of a data center into segregated hot and cold sections, depending on how each aisle is set up. For example, some data centers might have the front of their servers on the inside of the aisle, with fans blowing the exhaust outside the aisle. Others might have the front of their servers on the outside of the aisle, and vent heat inside the aisle.

Our Versatile Aisle Containment Solutions Allow Both New And Existing Data Centers To Maximize Their Cooling Efficiency Within Either Hot And Cold Air Systems.

Hot and Cold Aisle Containment (HAC & CAC) Solutions

Our hot and cold aisle containment system has evolved over the course of helping hundreds of customers get the most out of their cooling infrastructures. Every containment project is unique and constantly present new challenges. These projects require customized solutions, therefore extending the capabilities of the product line. Our proprietary containment channels are the heart of our system. Each of our profiles consist of a unique combination of threaded and slotted sides to provide a seemingly endless number of applications and configurations.

Containment makes existing cooling and power infrastructure more effective. Using containment, the data center makes increasingly efficient use of the same or less cooling, reducing the cooling portion of the total energy bill. Data centers can even power down some CRAC units, saving utility and maintenance costs. Containment allows for lower cooling unit fan speeds, higher chilled water temperatures, decommissioning of redundant cooling units and increased use of free cooling. A robust containment solution can reduce fan energy consumption by up to 25-percent and deliver 20-percent energy savings at the cold water chiller, according to the U.S. EPA.

Key Benefits of Aisle Containment:

  • Increased energy efficiency.
  • Reduction of bypass airflow rate.
  • Increased cooling efficiency as high as 90 percent.
  • Allows for an increase in rack population and overall server load.
  • Extends lifespan of facility equipment.

ENGINEERING AND DESIGN SUPPORT (HAC & CAC) Solutions

DC Infrastructure’s engineers offer design support for hot and cold aisle containment projects of any size. We can create shop drawings from architectural drawings in CAD. We also offer design support where we assist architects and engineers in the development of a final project design. For retrofits with less specific documentation, DC Infrastructure prepares basic design documents from layout drawings and field measurements.

With a multitude of options and methods available, we also provide engineering support to ensure the most efficient method is deployed for your particular installation.
